A license is required to use VisuallyJs for all commercial purposes with the exception of evaluating the software to determine its fitness for your purpose.

VisuallyJs is free to use for non-commercial usage, the definition of which is outlined on this page and specified precisely in our standard license agreement. Determining whether your use case fits our definition of "non-commercial" is entirely at VisuallyJs' discretion.

• Self Hosting License – If you're building a single application and hosting it on your your own servers
• Client Hosting License – If you're building a single application that your clients will host, or if that application is a mobile or desktop application
• Enterprise License - If you need more than 10 developer seats, or if you require a custom license agreement, or you're intending to use VisuallyJs to build more than one application

VJS Connect provides access to new releases, email support and our private NPM repository. It is licensed per-seat. When you buy a license, you get a free subscription for each developer seat to 12 months of VJS Connect. After a year, you can renew your subscription to keep getting updates and support.

Please note these must be renewed within 30 days or they lapse and a new license will be required.

1. No Economic Gain: The usage is not directed toward or intended for commercial advantage or monetary compensation. This includes, but is not limited to, usage for advertising, lead generation, or the promotion of any for-profit or not-for-profit entity.
2. Individual Use Only: The Software is used solely by a natural person. Usage by, on behalf of, or for the benefit of any legal entity—including corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, and non-profit organizations—is expressly excluded and constitutes Commercial Usage.
3. No Internal Business Use: Except for the Evaluation Period defined below, any use of the Software within a business environment, including internal-only tools, development, testing, or administration for an organization (regardless of that organization’s tax or legal status), is considered Commercial Usage.
4. Limited Commercial Evaluation Notwithstanding the above, an individual may use the Software in a commercial or business capacity solely for the purpose of evaluating its suitability for their employer or entity for a period not to exceed thirty (30) calendar days from the date of the first installation or use. Any use by the entity or its employees beyond this 30-day period requires a valid Commercial License.
5. Permitted Contexts Examples of Non-Commercial Usage include:
   • Personal projects or hobbies where the output is not sold or used to support a business.
   • Student projects for a degree-seeking curriculum (excluding research funded by a commercial or non-profit entity).
   • Testing the Software for purely personal evaluation, provided such evaluation is not performed on behalf of an employer.

For large companies who want to be confident of compliant usage of VisuallyJs, an Enterprise license is the best option.
